Big, youthful and consequently awkward, but with a beam of tart currant and plum flavors blazing through the tough tannins and hard-edged oak character. Desperately needs cellaring until at least 1998.
The 1987 displays a mineral, blackcurrant, smoky character, good acidity, a medium- to full-bodied feel, and enough depth and richness to last for 10-15 years.
